We've been experimenting with the new Heroku support for Python and are excited by what we see so far. Having deployed Rails apps to Heroku in the past, we know what a great service it is. That said, there are a few issues we'd like to see addressed. For example, the Django deployment process seems to require a settings.py file in the root of the project so that Heroku can write the required database settings at the end of the file. Like many others we prefer to use a settings module to separate development and production settings. Heroku would not deploy properly until we added a settings.py. Hopefully Heroku will be updated to support this type of configuration.
